Why is there a settlement?
The lawsuit (McDowell v. Pluto Acquisition OPCO LLC, Case No. 2:23-cv-12827) alleged that PeopleFacts failed to give timely notice when it reported negative public-record information to employers—an FCRA requirement designed to protect job applicants. PeopleFacts denies wrongdoing but agreed to settle and update its practices.
