Settlement Background

The lawsuit—Maystrenko, et al. v. 6th & Island Investments LLC, et al., Case No. 37-2020-00028758-CU-CR CTL—claims Omnia San Diego violated California discrimination laws by:

  • Charging men and nonbinary patrons full price while women gained free or discounted entry on ladies’ nights;
  • Subjecting only men and nonbinary patrons to security pat-downs.

Defendants deny wrongdoing but agreed to the $7 million settlement to avoid further litigation risk. After attorneys’ fees, service awards, and costs, $2.8 million remains for class payments and administration.
