Who Is Included?
You are automatically part of the “Settlement Class” if you:
- Purchased merchandise at any Dollar General store in the United States during the Class Period (estimated January 1, 2018 – September 30, 2023), and
- Paid more at the register than the price shown on the shelf label.
No receipt is required to receive the in-store benefit. Proof is only needed for a cash payment (see below).
What Can You Get?
1. Cash Payment (up to $20)
Class members who supply acceptable proof of overcharge can receive:
- $10 per documented overcharge or the exact amount of the overcharge—whichever is higher;
- Up to two claims per household, capped at $20 total or the sum of actual overcharges, whichever is higher.
Valid proof includes a complaint you filed with a government agency or Dollar General during the class period, or other objective, time-stamped evidence (e.g., photo of shelf tag & receipt).
2. Automatic In-Store Benefit ($3 off)
Every class member—whether or not a cash claim is filed—may redeem a one-time $3 discount on a purchase of at least $10 (pre-tax) at any Dollar General location during a two-day redemption window (currently set for June 1-2, 2026). Exclusions: phone, gift & prepaid cards, prepaid wireless handsets, Rug Doctor rental, propane, tobacco, alcohol, and milk.
Your Options
- File a claim by April 13, 2026 to get cash and still use the coupon.
- Do nothing and keep the right to use the $3 coupon.
- Opt out by March 2, 2026 to keep your right to sue Dollar General separately.
- Object by March 2, 2026 if you disagree with the settlement terms but want to stay in the class.
