Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Kuhn v. Nations Direct Mortgage data-breach lawsuit about?

Plaintiffs allege that a December 2023 cyberattack allowed hackers to access files containing personal information such as names, Social Security numbers, and contact details. NDM denies wrongdoing but agreed to settle.

How much money can I get from the settlement?

Up to $2,750 for documented expenses, $50 for time spent, and (if you live in California) an extra $75. Actual payments depend on the number of valid claims.

Do I need proof of my losses?

Yes. Reimbursement claims must be supported by documentation such as bank statements, invoices, receipts, or comparable records. Self-prepared notes alone are not enough.

Will the settlement pay my lawyers?

Class Counsel will ask the Court for up to $225,000 in fees and costs, paid separately by NDM. You owe nothing unless you hire your own attorney.

When will I receive my payment?

Payments will be distributed after the Court grants final approval on January 22 2026 and any appeals are resolved. Processing typically takes several months thereafter.
