
Knight Barry Title, Inc. Data Incident Settlement
If you received a notice from Knight Barry Title on or around February 1, 2024 about the August 2023 ransomware attack, you could get up to $5,000, a pro-rata cash payment, and/or three years of free credit monitoring. Submit your claim online by February 17, 2026.
Who Is Eligible?
“Class Members” include every person whose private information was compromised in the Knight Barry Title ransomware attack and who received KBT’s written notice dated around February 1, 2024. The following are not included:
- Anyone who requests exclusion by January 16, 2026
- The presiding judge
- Individuals found criminally responsible for the breach

- Reimbursement for Out-of-Pocket Losses – up to $5,000
Document expenses such as bank fees, credit-report costs, or identity-theft expenses that are fairly traceable to the incident. - Pro-Rata Cash Payment
After paying approved claims and costs, any remaining funds will be equally divided among valid claimants. - Three Years of Identity-Theft Protection & Credit Monitoring
Includes credit report access, alerts, and $1 million in insurance. A claim form is still required.

- Enter the unique ID from your mailed notice (or request one from the administrator).
- Choose your benefit(s) and upload supporting documents, if requesting expense reimbursement.
- Submit online—or mail the completed paper form—by February 17, 2026.

On or about August 15, 2023, Knight Barry Title experienced a ransomware attack that allegedly exposed customers’ personally identifiable information (“PII”). Roughly five months later, the company mailed data-breach notices to affected individuals.
Does Knight Barry Title admit wrongdoing?
No. The company denies all allegations. The settlement is a compromise that avoids the costs and risks of continued litigation.
Do I need to provide receipts to claim the $5,000 reimbursement?
Yes. To receive Out-of-Pocket Loss reimbursement you must upload or mail documentation (e.g., bank statements, invoices) that shows the expense is related to the data incident.
How will the pro-rata cash payment be calculated?
After paying valid expense claims, service awards, and administrative costs, any money left in the settlement fund will be divided equally among all Class Members who requested a cash payment.
What happens if I do nothing?
You will remain in the Class and waive the right to sue Knight Barry Title over this breach, but you will not receive any benefits.
