Klepper, et al. v. MedQ, Inc. Class Action Settlement

If you live in the United States and received MedQ’s December 2023 data-breach notice, you’re part of a proposed class-action settlement. Eligible class members may receive up to $5,000 cash reimbursement, a $50 flat payment, and/or two years of comprehensive credit monitoring. Who Is Eligible?

“All persons residing in the United States who received a Notice of Data Breach letter from MedQ, Inc.” are automatically included—unless they opt out.

Available Benefits

  • Two Years of Credit Monitoring – real-time three-bureau monitoring, dark-web scans, medical ID protection and identity-theft insurance.
  • Cash Option 1 – Reimbursement
    • Up to $5,000 for documented out-of-pocket losses (identity-theft expenses, credit fees, ID replacement, postage, etc.).
    • Up to $90 for time spent (3 hours × $30) responding to the breach.
  • Cash Option 2 – $50 Alternative Payment – no documentation required.

What is the Klepper v. MedQ settlement about?

The lawsuit claims MedQ failed to safeguard personal and medical data compromised in a December 26, 2023 cyber-attack. MedQ denies wrongdoing, but agreed to settle to avoid litigation costs.

Do I need proof to claim the $50 payment?

No. The $50 alternative cash payment requires only a timely, valid claim form—no receipts or other documentation.

What documentation is required for the $5,000 reimbursement?

Submit receipts, bank or credit-card statements, or other records showing out-of-pocket losses between Dec. 26, 2023 and Dec. 15, 2025. Self-prepared notes alone are not accepted.

When will I get my payment?

Payments will be distributed after the Court grants final approval on or after December 18, 2025, and any appeals are resolved.

How do I opt out of the MedQ settlement?
