Women who reported sexual assault to the Johnson City Police Department between January 1, 2018, and December 31, 2022, may receive about $7,000 each from a $4.2 million class action settlement. Who Is Eligible?

  • Women (including minors) who reported sexual assault to the Johnson City Police Department (JCPD) between Jan. 1, 2018 – Dec. 31, 2022.
  • Your report must appear in JCPD’s records management system under one of these crime codes:
    • Rape
    • Sodomy
    • Sexual assault with an object
    • Forcible fondling
    • Incest
    • Statutory rape
  • Class members received a mailed notice containing a unique ID and confirmation number.

Expected Cash Payments

After deducting court-approved fees and costs, each approved claimant will receive an equal share of the remaining fund—currently estimated at around $7,000. The final amount depends on:

  • The total number of valid claims
  • Administrative costs (up to $95,000)
  • Attorneys’ fees (up to $1.4 million) and expenses (up to $20,000)
  • Service award to the class representative (up to $20,000)

No Traditional Claim Form Required

The settlement administrator has already identified potential class members. To get paid, simply:

  1. Go to secure.jcpdclassactionsettlement.com, enter your unique ID and confirmation number, and verify your contact information, Social Security number (for tax purposes), and preferred payment method; or
  2. Mail the completed paper notice to:
