Ambriola, Locatelli & Boar’s Head Cheese Recall 2024: Listeria Risk, Lots & Refund Info

Quick take: Grated Pecorino Romano sold under Ambriola, Locatelli, Boar’s Head, Member’s Mark and Pinna between 11/03/25 – 11/20/25 may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. Do not eat; discard or return for a full refund.

Why the cheeses were recalled for Listeria

During routine environmental sampling, The Ambriola Company’s West Caldwell, NJ facility detected Listeria monocytogenes on processing equipment. Out of an abundance of caution, the firm issued a voluntary recall covering multiple grated Pecorino Romano products. While no illnesses have been reported to date, Listeria infection can cause serious or fatal complications in young children, older adults, pregnant people and anyone with a weakened immune system.

The recall covers grated Pecorino Romano under the Ambriola, Locatelli, Boar’s Head, Member’s Mark and Pinna brands.

Check 4 oz or 8 oz Locatelli cups—and any bulk Locatelli grated product—for the use-by dates listed above (03/04/26 – 05/17/26). If the date matches, it is recalled.

Early symptoms include fever, headache, muscle aches, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. Pregnant individuals should also watch for flu-like symptoms and seek medical care immediately.

Yes. Bring the Member’s Mark cheese to any Sam’s Club service desk for a full refund—receipts are typically waived during recalls.

6. Is any Boar’s Head cheese other than Pecorino Romano affected?

No. Only the Boar’s Head grated Pecorino Romano lots and dates listed in this notice are under recall; other Boar’s Head cheeses are safe to consume.
